When installing shock absorbers on 1986-2015 XL models, it may be necessary to modify or space the chain/drive belt guard to allow for proper clearance.
A slightly longer shock than the stock shock can slightly alter the fork's rake angle and provide slightly quicker handling.
A slightly shorter shock than stock can slightly alter the fork rake angle and provide slightly slower handling.
HD applications are recommended for motorcycles that are used at or near the manufacturer's maximum load capacity more than 50% of the time.
