Turning the original saddlebags into "detachable" or removable

We are going to deal with a very simple element: the saddlebags. But always from our point of view of improvement of the original product, to add new functionalities that apart from customizing our motorcycle contribute a practical component.
Harley-Davidson saddlebags, both those of the original equipment and those of the accessories catalog, are very aesthetically successful and of a very high quality. Although very practical when we travel, at the aesthetic level or during the day to day we do not always feel like its presence on the motorcycle. Now we can improve the usefulness of this element making it detachable in an easy and fast way, moving from a “touring” motorcycle to travel during the day to a “street custom” that will shine at night, in the style of the Dyna Switchback.

The "Detachable" kit
With the Cycle Visions Bureback kit we are going to achieve our goal.

This kit consists mainly of 2 parts, one that permanently hooks the saddlebags and another that remains in the subjection of the fender.

Both parties join with a simple “click” allowing to disassemble the saddlebags in a few seconds and re -install them when we need it.

Another characteristics of the kit is that it is compatible with removable accessories, such as backups and holder -ups.
It is installed in a matter of half an hour if special tools, let's see how.

Facility
We will start by disassembling the original saddlebags loosening the screws that hold them, depending on the year and model we will do it from inside the same bag or behind the fender.
The next step we will place the female part of the kit in the saddlebag, through its support.
We will continue to replace the original chassis fastening screw with the male screw provided in the kit.

Once the components are installed in both saddlebons we can try the system, for this we simply slide the spring with the necklace a little back, while we fit the 2 pieces the support, bayonet type. Then we release the dock and this in turn will push the necklace that will close the system.

Disassembling the saddlebags is now as simple as to continue in reverse order the previous steps.

Another interesting accessory is chrome plugs that will stylize our fender covering the screws when we do not use the saddlebags.
