Stage 1 with approved escape for Harley-Davidson
Share
There is an increasingly growing demand for Approved escapes for Harley-Davidson, at the same time have any system to increase or modify the sound and are not excessively restrictive with the power.
It seems that American manufacturers are finally verifying that there is a market in this segment, and some of the most important, such as Vance and Hines, SuperTrapp or S&S already have “compatible” versions approved for the old continent.
The challenge
It is clear that a approved escape will not emit a satisfactory sound for most users and at the same time the power will be seen especially in large -displayed engines (remember that the engine power depends on the air that is capable to enter and leave it), so that manufacturers have to sharpen the ingenuity to offer “legal” solutions that at the same time allow a sound increase if the user requires it.
The system
In this case we are going to proceed to the installation of some approved Vance & Hines escapes for Europe with a removable internal baffles system that allow the sound to vary.
This operation will be carried out in one of the Rushmore models, specifically on a street glide.
Keep in mind that in these models the catalyst is inside the collector, so we do want to observe a significant increase in torque and power this element must be replaced by the same component but for the American market, totally free.
The operation
We start as always disassembling the original tails, loosening the 3 screws that hold them.
Then we extract the collector, first disconnecting the Lambda probes and the active exhaust system, the latter will not be reused.
Then we can install the probes in the new collector,
set up in its location
and set it to the rest of the system.
We continue to slide the new silencers in their place, for placement we will use the supports provided in the kit
And always with new clamps, to obtain an optimal gase seal.
With the totally mounted escape we can see how it is with and without the "db killer."
As always to remember that the entire disassembly-montaje process must be carried out following the workshop manual, respecting the tightening pairs.
Completing Stage 1
The installation of a less restrictive escape is never complete without a Air filter that allows a greater input flow than the original, both for its manufacture and its size.
The substitution is direct, being "camouflaged" under the original lid.
It is absolutely essential to reprogram the switchboard to provide the new air input values, adjust the ignition to the new conditions and inform the system that it no longer has an active exhaust engine. In our case we do it through the software TTS MASTERTUNE, one of the most versatile in the market.
This phase will lead us to perform several road tests, so we can enjoy from the first moment of the new look and sound of our brand new escapes.

Saludos.
Un pregunta. Es mejor cambiar el múltiple de Admisión de Aire en el Stage 2 para motor 114 Softail?
Como siempre muy agradecido por ustedes
