Cómo ver y borrar los códigos de error o fallo de Harley-Davidson

How to View and Clear Harley-Davidson Error or Fault Codes

In this tutorial we will learn how to take advantage of one of the most interesting resources offered by electronic injection systems on modern motorcycles: access to error codes (Engine Troublecode).

Features
Electronic injection systems use a small computer integrated into the electrical equipment of the motorcycle to manage mainly 2 things:
  • How much gasoline does the engine need and when (check the injectors)
  • When does this gasoline burn (check the ignition spark)

To carry out this task, the EFI system consists of sensors and actuators, receiving and sending signals many times per second.
When any sensor (input), actuator (output) or their associated systems work incorrectly, the motorcycle's control unit is able to detect it, putting said sensor in "failure mode", sending or receiving a fixed intermediate signal so that the motorcyclist can driving home or to the workshop while activating the Error Code light to warn the driver that something is wrong.

Historical and current
The error codes can be current, in real time, or they can be historical, that is, they have occurred at a certain time but have been corrected automatically and are simply recorded in the memory register.
If the motorcycle has a current engine fault, the fault light will remain on constantly, if it comes on when the ignition is turned on and turns off after 8 seconds it indicates that the code (or codes) is historical.
If the fault is related to the turn signals or the alarm system instead of the engine fault light, the “key” symbol will light up on the display and if the problem is ABS it will be indicated by its own fault light.

Access to fault codes (wow test)
Contrary to what many users think, a computer is not necessary to be able to read, interpret or erase fault codes.
Simply press and hold the reset button on the odometer while turning the ignition key to "on". The instrument needle will move all the way and all the warning lights will light up, after which the fault codes menu will appear on the digital display:

  • P = POWERTRAIN Understands the codes related to the engine and ECM
  • B = BODY Includes the systems that make up some electrical, immobilizer and intermittent or radio systems
  • C = CHASSIS Includes the systems related to the chassis such as ABS systems
  • SP = SPEEDO Errors related to the speedometer
  • T = TACHOMETER Errors related to the tachometer
  • U = NETWORK Understands the problems related to the transmission of data from one module to another, communication networks can break down and leave complete systems outside the system. In that case, any of the remaining modules can generate a code related to that system.

By pressing the reset button of the odometer we can "go" from one menu to another (short press) or we can enter each of the menus (long press). Within the menus we will see the numbers that represent the different fault codes:

If at any time we keep the reset button pressed for more than 2 seconds we will erase all the error codes (the letters "CLr" appear).

clear harley-davidson fault codes

It looks complicated, but it is not
Now that we know how to access, read and erase fault codes, you will see that it is very easy to carry out a first diagnosis in the event of a problem, since the number in the table will guide you directly to the problem sensor or system, and Following the instructions in the workshop manual for your year and model, you will be able to carry out the relevant tests to find the problem and correct it.
A very important recommendation when verifying the EFI system is to read well and understand each test specified in the manual, in this way and with a simple “step by step” we will be able to solve complex problems.

Me quedé sin direccionales y sin intermitentes y no me marca ningún código
Revisé los fusibles y todos bien alguien me puede decir si tiene Flasher una Road King mod 2008 y dónde va para cambiar?
Gracias

Me aparece R 10 ?

I have no power to the fuel fuse.it is on a 01 Softail. The only code was the speed sensor. I changed it. No other code’s were found. It’s a efi system . I cleared the codes. Still no power to the fuel fuse or from it.
