One of the weak points of Twin Cam engines is the distribution area, where the camshafts, oil pump, and hydraulic chain tensioners are housed.
The original pump and distribution plate are easily damaged, rendering them less effective. American manufacturer S&S has launched new high-performance TC3 pump and plate kits that offer longer life and superior features.

They are CNC-forged aluminum (lower internal porosity) and offer greater structural strength than stock components. The pump features two separate oil return sections, one for the engine crankcase and one for the distribution area, achieving greater performance without interference. A magnet is installed at the return inlet to prevent metal particles from reaching the pump interior.

Internal gears (gerotors) allow for greater tolerances on the crankshaft shaft without damage. The plate is equipped with bronze bushings that can be replaced if worn, without having to replace the entire plate.

One of the most interesting features is the ability to manually adjust the oil pump pressure (it comes factory set at 40 psi) if necessary, without having to remove the timing plate.

Assembly is carried out following the steps in the Harley-Davidson manual for the specific year and model, observing the tightening torques and assembly order of the components. Our testing revealed very smooth and quiet operation and constant oil pressure, both cold and at operating temperature.
