We're going to focus on a very simple item: saddlebags. But always from our perspective, improving the original product to add new features that, apart from personalizing our bike, provide a practical component.
Harley-Davidson saddlebags, both original equipment and those from the accessories catalog, are aesthetically pleasing and of very high quality. While they're very practical when traveling, aesthetically or in everyday use, we don't always want to have them on the bike. Now we can improve the usefulness of this item by making it quickly and easily removable, transforming it from a daytime touring bike into a nighttime street custom, exemplary in the style of the Dyna Switchback.
The “detachable” kit
With the Cycle Visions Bareback Kit we are going to achieve our goal.

This kit consists essentially of two parts, one that permanently attaches to the saddlebags and another that remains on the fender mounts.

Both parts are joined with a simple "click", allowing the saddlebags to be removed in just a few seconds and reinstalled whenever necessary.

Another feature of the kit is that it is compatible with removable accessories, such as backrests and luggage racks.
It is installed in a matter of half an hour without special tools, let's see how.
Facility
We'll start by removing the original saddlebags by loosening the bolts holding them in place. Depending on the year and model, we'll do this from inside the bag itself or from behind the fender.
In the next step we will place the female part of the kit in the saddlebag, through its support.
We will continue replacing the original chassis mounting screw with the male screw provided in the kit.

Once the components are installed in both saddlebags, we can test the system. To do this, simply slide the spring and collar back slightly while fitting the two bayonet-style brackets together. Then, release the spring, which will push the collar, closing the system.

Removing the saddlebags is now as simple as following the previous steps in reverse order.
Extras
Now that we have our detachable saddlebags, we can also install straps sold by the same brand as an auxiliary element. These will allow us to carry the loaded saddlebags as if they were a briefcase. This is a very useful option when we have to spend the night in a hostel or leave the motorcycle parked in an area where theft is high.

Another interesting accessory is a pair of chrome-plated end caps that will stylize our fender by covering the bolts when we're not using the saddlebags.

It is also important to remember that, whether using the detachable kit or not, we must not exceed the maximum load allowed by the saddlebags, as indicated by the manufacturer in the user manual and on a label inside the saddlebags. This will not only strain the support, but also affect the quality of riding.

Turn your motorcycle into a convertible and enjoy the ride!
