They are used to align the tappets on BT 36-E77 models, so that the tappets rotate correctly on the camshaft, helping to prevent premature failure.

They are sold in packs of 3, allowing you to align 3 holes in the block, place the first screw, and replace each alignment screw with the other mounting screws one by one until the block is fully installed.

This is especially important when using spade-style dowels on recent models, which do not have self-aligning (countersunk) mounting screws.
