The larger bolt-on camshaft offers a significant increase in power and torque.
S&S measured on the dynamometer: Low Rider ST 2023 with HPT496 camshaft, Stealth air filter, Super Street exhaust, maximum power of 120.73 hp at 5770 RPM and maximum torque of 127.04 hp at 3230 RPM.
2023 Low Rider ST, all stock: 91.2 hp peak power at 4680 RPM and 119.2 hp peak torque at 2960 RPM. Compatible with all stock components, but requires a free-vent air filter and exhaust mufflers.
With every camshaft change, S&S recommends their 583903 precision tappet set.
Gear-driven camshafts provide greater accuracy in valve timing, but a more powerful mechanical sound, compared to chain-driven camshafts.
This additional mechanical sound is the reason why original equipment manufacturers use chain-driven camshafts.
Note: For optimal performance, as with all high-performance camshafts, it is recommended to use an air filter and an easy-breathing exhaust system.
