On many later HD models, the rubber-mounted engines are a structural part of the frame.
With the engine removed, rolling the bike is impossible, which can be awkward in a workshop. Installing the Rollin' Buddy bolts it to the frame and allows the bike to roll as if the engine were still installed, keeping the work area and motorcycle lifts clear of unused motorcycles.
