Tappet Roller Rebuild Tool for Harley Davidson

It is used to remove and install tappet rollers.

Drill through the ends of the old shaft, remove it, install new rollers, and secure the ends of the new one.

Currently, it is the best tool available to achieve professional results.

Instructions for use.

Step 1: Drill holes in the ends of the old shaft.

Use the included 7/32" drill bit and drill approximately 1/16" into each side of the old tappet shaft.

Lightly grease the drill bit before inserting it into the hardened bushing.

Make sure to blow away the shavings between each hole drilled on both sides of the tap.

Step 2: Remove the old shaft.

Carefully remove the old tappet shaft using the included punch.

This should require several firm blows with a 473 g (16 oz) ball-peen hammer.

If 2 or 3 firm taps are not enough to start removing the old shaft, remove the tappet and return it to station/step 1.

Drill a little more into the end of the shaft before continuing to step 2 and removing the shaft.

Step 3: Install the new roller assembly and secure the ends of the new shaft.

Install the new/replacement roller assembly and shaft into the tappet body.

The new shaft should slide through the tappet body without forcing it.

Place the tappet assembly in station/step 3 of the tool and use the included dowel punch to lightly secure the ends of the new shaft to each side.

This should only require 2 or 3 light/medium blows with a 473g (16 oz) ball hammer.

It is best to rotate the tap a couple of times between the first few gentle taps with the hammer.

The shaft must remain centered within the tappet body, with the same length protruding from each side.

Compatible with: Big Twin > 36-84 (Exc. Evo); Sportster XL 57-85. (Except Evo, Flatheads and Twin Cam)
