When trying to maximize airflow through a filter, it helps to have a large filter area.
But building a huge filter was impossible, it had to be small and very effective.
This is where the designers at Arlen Ness started.
Adding the interior surface of the air filter to the exterior adds a significant amount of filtering area.
With the integrated rounded air intake, this air cleaner showed some of the highest flow numbers Ness has ever tested.
The finished look gives the air cleaner a very small, custom, and attractive velocity stack appearance that will effectively draw air from all sides and also give you more legroom.
The filter elements are made of synthetic material.
They are water resistant, a rain sock is not usually required.
The filters are reusable, simply rinse and reinstall.
No need to grease.
Note: The breather design features O-rings in the heads, passes through the backing plate, and is positioned inside the throttle body/carburetor mouth. This eliminates external breather hoses, so none of the clean look is lost.
Note: Not compatible with 64mm Stage 4 throttle bodies. Note: See 590444 for optional rain cover. Not generally required, but may be used when desired in exceptionally heavy downpours. Note: See 590397 for replacement filter element with chrome trim ring or 590396 for filter element with black trim ring.
