Amsoil Special Motorcycle Gasoline Additive Octane Booster MOBCN 118 mL
Amsoil Motorcycle Octane Boost MOBCN 118 mL
Increase octane for power and efficiency
It is designed to improve starting performance and eliminate metallic noise and engine knocking to increase power at low rpm operations.
Contains detergents that help keep combustion chambers and fuel delivery systems clean for optimal performance
Maximizes power and performance
When treated at 1.3 oz. per gallon of fuel, Motorcycle Octane Boost increases the octane rating of gasoline by up to three digits
Increasing octane improves power and can eliminate knocking or metallic noise that reduces performance and can be harmful (see below)
Improves performance at low revs
Engine knocking is especially noticeable on some motorcycles during idling or low revs and riding at high temperatures.
Most modern motorcycles are equipped with sophisticated knock detection systems that can alter ignition timing and the air-fuel mixture until the knocking stops.
Although these systems protect the engine from damage, they can also cause reduced horsepower and poor low-rpm performance.
AMSOIL Motorcycle Octane Boost helps reduce the need for knock detection systems to compensate, ensuring maximum power and low-rpm performance in modern motorcycles.
Cleans harmful deposits
Because Motorcycle Octane Boost contains active detergents, it can help maintain efficiency
However, for cleaning, AMSOIL recommends treating gasoline with AMSOIL Quickshot®, which contains a higher concentration of cleaning agents.
What is engine knocking and metallic noise? Why is it important?
The tendency of a hydrocarbon fuel, such as gasoline, to detonate is measured by its octane rating.
Lower numbers indicate a greater tendency to detonate; higher numbers indicate greater detonation control.
"Engine knock" is a reference to the sound produced by premature and uncontrolled ignition of fuel in the combustion chamber.
It causes a knocking or knocking sound, deprives the engine of power, and can cause catastrophic engine damage.
Detonation can be eliminated by increasing the octane rating of the fuel.
What is the Research Octane Rating?
Research Octane Number (RON), Motor Octane Number (MON), and Anti-Knock Index (AKI) are the three most common octane numbers.
The AKI, the index most American motorists are familiar with, is commonly displayed at gasoline pumps as the average of the RON and MON [(R+M)/2] of the fuel.
However, RON is the most common industry index
Therefore, AMSOIL uses the RON index when performing performance testing and product validation.
The RON of gasoline is usually a few numbers higher than the AKI posted on the gas pump (for example, 87 octane fuel, or regular pump gasoline, has a RON of approximately 91-92)
When marketing their products, some additive manufacturers have adopted a point system where 10 points are equivalent to an octane rating.
A claim that an additive increases octane by 30 points translates to an increase of three octane ratings
This approach is often used only to artificially strengthen marketing claims and is not endorsed by AMSOIL.
Treatment rate
One 4-ounce bottle of AMSOIL Motorcycle Octane Boost to treat four to six gallons of gasoline
Applications
Motorcycle Octane Boost is primarily recommended for use in air- or liquid-cooled four-stroke motorcycles manufactured by Harley-Davidson, Yamaha, Honda, Ducati, BMW, Triumph and all other four-stroke motorcycles.
Can be used in off-road applications, including ATVs, sport utility vehicles, and snowmobiles, as an alternative to AMSOIL DOMINATOR Octane Boost
Note: Wipe up spills immediately with a clean towel (if left to sit, Motorcycle Octane Boost may stain painted or metal surfaces; if wiped up immediately, there is no need to worry)
