The Harley-Davidson company announced the final production of the Sportster Evolution motorcycles for the fall of 2022.
It is not something unexpected, because with the introduction of the new "Sportster S" line, endowed with a more modern engine, cooked by water and capable of complying with the new regulations in the global markets, the end of the mythical model was expected.
But it seems that not everything is finished for Sportster: the SWM brand has created a "clone" of this motorcycle, presenting a prototype in the Milan Eicma Hall very similar to what the commercial model will be, which could reach the dealerships in September 2023.
The new SWM V1200 custom equips a two -cylinder mechanic in V at 45º refrigerated by air with 1,202 cc, change of 5 marches and a power of 81.6 hp, declaring 200 km/h of maximum and 250 kg empty. You sound familiar?
Founded by Piero Sironi and Fausto Vergani, SWM (Sironi Vergani Vimercate Milano) was one of the off -road reference brands in his time between 1971 and 1987. This is what they will tell you, "Made in Italy".
The truth is that, in 2014, the Chinese giant Brilliance Shineray Chongqing Automobile completely bought the SWM brand. This is reality, "Made in China."
But this does not have to be negative, at least in principle. Keep in mind that in the United States "clones" of Evolution engines have been manufactured since the '80s and some large American brands have been making the production of these engines in China, Taiwan or India for a long time.
Everything will depend, therefore, on quality control. At the moment we will wait to see a Euro5 approved model of the well -known "Sportster" engine, a challenge for any manufacturer.
